Work commissioned by Sixtrum
“On the Trail of White Elephants…” or; how to honour the future as imagined in North America in the 1960s/70s. SIXTRUM gives free rein to four multi-talented Montreal innovators (Jean-Michel Dumas, Sylvain Pohu, Dominique Thibault, and Étienne Deslières) to create a brand new hybrid show for percussion and technology. Together they will revisit the vision of the 1960s/70s and the iconic objects from this era (television sets, turn tables, etc.), to reconsider and reintegrate them into an hour of ground-breaking audio-visual performance.
In one phrase? A glimpse of the year 2000 as imagined in the 1960s, from the perspective of the 2010s.
On the project, Dominic Thibault acted as composer, developper (Max MSP) and audio integrator.
The project involved live video on multiple screens, synchronization of multiple computers, computer controlled turntables and interactive audio.
